A couple of days ago, I received my June Fairyloot box! They are slowly getting back to normal after all the COVID delays, which makes me very happy. The theme for this box was ‘A Different Kind of Magic’, and on their announcement, they mentioned there would be two books, one of which wouldn’t be released until February but we got a finished copy anyway! But without further ado, let’s get into the unboxing! If you haven’t received your June Fairyloot yet and don’t want to get spoiled, close this post NOW!
The first item I pulled out were these socks, inspired by the Bone Season by Samantha Shannon. I still have not read this book, but I am always happy with a pair of socks (says the person whose sock drawer won’t close due to the amount of socks she owns). These socks were designed by team Fairyloot.
Next, I got the item I was personally most excited for – Avatar the Last Airbender coasters! I’m always down for a set of coasters, and then they’re themed after my favourite animated series, it makes it even better! I love the simplicity of these and I’ve been using them ever since I received them! The coasters were designed by Noverantale.
Then I got this patch inspired by the Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. Unfortunately, I didn’t love this book, and I am also not a huge fan of patches, so I might sell/give this one to someone who did love the book. Still, I love the design and the golden details! The patch was designed by Dust and Pages.
Next up was a pin inspired by The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller. We got this book in a previous Fairyloot, and I am ashamed to say I still haven’t read it. Still, I like this pin and I’ll keep it unless I end up hating the book or something. The pin was designed by JezHawk.
Then I saw this little tea strainer, inspired by Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. Again, I didn’t love this book, but I love this tea strainer so much! This might come in handy when I finally decide to try out all those teas I got in my Geek Gear boxes last year. There is no artist written down for this one, so I assume it’s designed by Fairyloot.
And here are the paper items. There is a Blood Heir (by Amelie Wen Zhao) print created by Arz28, the author letter for the main book (also created by Arz28), the spoiler card with the theme art, the fairyscoop and the two tarot cards. They are Kel and Lila from A Darker Shade of Magic and I love them.
Lastly, there are the two books that were in this book – I was so happy when they announced there was going to be a book that wouldn’t come out until February next year, and even more happy when they said it was a finished copy instead of an arc. The books are The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna and Forest of Souls by Lori M. Lee. I am super excited to read both of these, though knowing me it’ll take a while to actually pick them up.
Forest of Souls has an exclusive cover, art on the reverse of the dust jacket (by Arz28) and is signed by the author. The Gilded Ones has sprayed edges and has an exclusive foiled cover.
So there’s my Fairyloot unboxing for June! I think you can guess what my favourite item is – yes, of course, it’s the ATLA item! I also really love the Gilded Ones, I think it may even be prettier than the main book.
