Okay, honestly I don’t really do resolutions for the new year, mostly because I have a Day Zero list of goals I kind of need to complete before June this year (not gonna happen but hey I can try!). But when I saw the subject for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday was resolutions, I thought I could just write down some goals I kind of want to do this year. They are both bookish and non-bookish. Let’s go!

1. Read all my TBR books

Honestly, that’s quite a few. I haven’t counted, but I think they’re at least over 20 on my physical shelf. I won’t be talking about my Goodreads shelf, because those I will certainly not be reading all this year. I plan on reading at least ten of my physical shelf and maybe I’m going to do the ‘read three, buy one’ challenge – where you can buy a new book after every three books you’ve finished reading. Rereads not counting, of course.

2. Comment on people’s blogs more

I am so so so bad at this. Probably one of the reasons I don’t have any comments on my own posts, I don’t comment on other people’s blogs after I’ve read their posts. My main goal for this year is to get more people to comment on my blog, by commenting on theirs first. And promoting my blog more, I guess. Which is something I’m also bad at. Yay! I’m definitely planning on bringing the facebook page back to life and making it a cosplay thing as well.

3. Write more movie reviews

The majority of the reviews on my blog are books. But I watch almost as many movies as I read books every year, and I only review a handful of those (usually only the movies that came out that year). This year I am planning on reviewing as many movies as books. I’ve already got a review for The Force Awakens in my drafts and tomorrow I’ll post one for Love, Rosie.

4. Buy only two/three books a month

I put this on my Day Zero list, but I majorly failed several months last year. Like I said before, I may do the ‘read three, buy one’ challenge – but I don’t think I can get myself to buy only one book a month. So I’ve limited it to three at most. This won’t apply to pre-orders (if I even do those) and books I am highly anticipating though. (Yes, see I’m already breaking my own rule). I will limit myself to paperbacks mostly, because they’re usually cheaper!

5. ^ Only books I really want

‘Oh this book that I’ve never heard of is only five euros, I’m gonna buy it!’ That was me mostly during the previous year, and that is how I happened to buy 108 books in a year. This year, I’m going to really ask myself: ‘do you really want this book? Yes? Buy it. No? Put it back where it came from, or so help me!’ Like I said, highly anticipated books will definitely be bought.

6. Finish all my unfinished TV shows

I’ve started Jessica Jones, Once Upon a Time, Sleepy Hollow, Supernatural, and lots and lots of other TV shows the past couple of years, but I never finished them. 2016 will be the year of finishing those unfinished TV shows, hopefully before new episodes come out, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. Oh well, I’ll do my best!

7. ^ Same for the unfinished book series

And I also have a lot of unfinished book series that I still need to finish. Books that have been out for years but I just haven’t picked up. Not because I didn’t like the books in that series that I have read, but because – well I don’t really know why I haven’t finished them. Maybe I’ll buy the books, maybe I’ll buy ebooks of them, but I will. Finish. Them. ALL!

8. Make more gifs this year

The last gifset I made was posted on Tumblr on 30 August. Ever since that I haven’t opened photoshop to actively make gifs. Oops. I have so many ideas but the fact that my laptop is so slow when I make gifs really stops me from doing it. Now that I have a new laptop that’s much nicer, I am going to try to make more and more gifs this year!

9. Review all of the Dutch books I read (in Dutch)

I don’t have a lot of Dutch books, but I do own a couple that I still need to read. The main reason I don’t want to read them is because often I think Dutch sounds a bit childish. I don’t know why, maybe it was just the translations I read, but I didn’t enjoy them that much. But I am planning on reading more Dutch books this year and actually reviewing them. In Dutch, or perhaps in English (though that would be weird if it’s a book that was originally written in Dutch). I’ll see what I’ll do!

10. Finally clean up my room properly

Last year I began cleaning up my room, partially because a friend of mine was staying over before HobbitCon. Then, after that I never really picked it up again, even though I still had plenty of stuff I needed to clean. This year I am definitely planning on cleaning up everything, even the stuff under my bed, and get rid of everything I don’t need anymore. Really. Honestly. I mean it!!!!!

So those are my ten resolutions for 2016! What are yours?
