Harry Potter Book Tag

Published by Nessa Luna on

I saw this book tag on Bieke and Rachel’s blog, and underneath it said that they tagged everyone that loved Harry Potter. So I decided to do this tag as well, because – obviously – I love Harry Potter; and book tags!

Accio

An upcoming release you wish you could get your hands on right now

Winter by Marissa Meyer! It’s coming out next month (TWO WEEKS AAAAH!), and I really can’t wait to read it! But I also don’t want to read it because that means it’ll be over. But yeah, Winter will hopefully be as awesome as the rest of the series! And I really want to read The Hammer of Thor, the second book in the Magnus Chase series, because I really loved the first book!

Alohomora

Favourite series starter

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo was such a good book! It really made me want to read the other two as soon as possible. Also I loved The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan, the first in a trilogy series about Norse demigods. Norse mythology is my favourite, and I loved reading about it in Riordan’s writing!

Cheering Charm

A book that gave you all the warm & fuzzies

I really loved the feelings Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell gave me. It’s just so lovely and everything! I am not a huge fan of contemporary books, but Fangirl felt really different – probably because I could just identify myself with the main character so so much!

Aguamenti

A book that made you ugly cry

One word: A l l e g i a n t. Every goddamn time. The last book that I cried about was The Blood of Olympus. In the middle of the night, while I had to go to work early the next morning. *sighs*

Expecto Patronum

Bookish hero(ine) you want around to protect you in real life

I guess I wouldn’t mind if Celaena Sardothien from Throne of Glass protected me. Or, ehm, I can’t really think of anyone else at the moment. But I think Celaena will be a good protector! She’s my patronus!

Lumos

A book you intentionally spoiled for yourself

The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare, because I didn’t really care about any of the books. So I just looked up people’s (negative) reviews to see how many people agreed with me. While doing that I kind of spoiled myself for the upcoming books, but honestly I didn’t care about that at all.

Imperio

A book you wish you could make everyone read because you love it so much

Obviously I would love for the people who haven’t read Harry Potter to read the books, because these are the books that changed my life, and I want people to feel the same emotions I felt while reading it. I also keep on recommending the Grisha Trilogy to my friends, because they are amazing. And Throne of Glass, and the Lunar Chronicles as well. These four series are some of my favourites of all time!

Engorgio

A book series you wish never ended

The Lunar Chronicles, because they are so amazing – and there are so many fairy tales that Marissa can use to write stories about. I get that authors often want to move on and write other stuff (though I believe she’s writing another fairy-tale retelling), but yeah I would love for Marissa Meyer to write more and more Lunar Chronicles books! *chants* Sleeping Beauty, Sleeping Beauty, Sleeping Beauty!

Wingardium Leviosa

A book with an uplifting message

I don’t really read books that have uplifting messages, to be honest, ha ha ha! I guess that This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales has a nice message, that everything will be alright and that there are people who care about you, even though you think there aren’t.

Obliviate

A book you wish could forget you ever read

Endgame: The Calling by James Frey. I really did not like reading this book at all; I hated it. I really wish I could just delete it from my brain but leave a little message to never ever pick it up.

Anapneo

An author whose books always get you out of a reading slump

I don’t really have a specific author that gets me out of a reading slump, but usually when I’m in one I read short stories or go and reread a book that I love. Graphic novels help too!

Jelly-legs Jinx

A swoon-worthy hero(ine)

Oh so many. The most recent I can think of is Captain Carswell Thorne from the Lunar Chronicles. And the Darkling from the Grisha trilogy. I never thought I’d be attracted to the bad guy, but gods – gods. *swoooooooons*

Aresto Momentum

A book that caused you to stop doing all other things until it was finished

The last book that made me do that was The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan, which I really just wanted to finish because I wanted to know what was going to happen to my favourite characters. And I didn’t want to get spoiled, because a friend of mine was posting spoilers about it on facebook.

Crucio

A book that was painful to read/broke you (in any way)

I guess Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien broke me a bit, because they were just quite difficult to read (especially if you’re not a fan of classic books), and yeah it took me almost a month in total to read these three books.

Rictusempra

A book that had you laughing out loud

Rick Riordan’s books always make me laugh, because he just managed to write so many sarcastic and funny characters. And his chapter titles are the best. THE BEST!

Expelliarmus

A book that made you want to send it flying

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and I think at one point I did throw it across the room because I was so cross with something that had happened. Also the Magisterium books by Cassandra Clare and Holly Black for a whole different reason. (But I couldn’t throw my tablet or phone across the room, of course).

Portus

A bookish world you wish you could visit

Do I even need to say it? I would love to visit Hogwarts. I would probably cry the moment I step into the Great Hall, or the Slytherin dormitory.

Stupefy

A book with a shocking ending

Definitely Allegiant by Veronica Roth. I was super shocked at what happened, that I just couldn’t stop crying. Tears were literally streaming down my face and I just couldn’t process what had happened. This still kind of happens whenever I reread the book, and it’ll probably happen again when I see the fourth movie, Ascendant in two years!

Avada Kedavra

A character death that destroyed you

All of them. Seriously. I can’t really specifically name one character that completely destroyed me. Because so many character deaths have destroyed me. I guess it all started when Sirius Black died. That bastard.

Finite Incatatem

Best series conclusion

I thought Library of Souls was an amazing series conclusion. It wasn’t super sad, it didn’t end with me wanting to read more (though of course I’d love to read more about this world). I was very satisfied with this ending, and it made me feel all the feels!
