This month I had a Netgalley reading month. I’ve already made a post about it, where I talk about how I didn’t really read that many books from Netgalley this month, but I did read five which I think is an accomplishment! Other than that I read a couple of graphic novels, and I watched some movies! Let’s take a look at the bookish stats of August 2015!

Books/DVD’s bought/received/won:

Bought:

  • Ms. Marvel by G. Willow Wilson – I heard a lot of things about this comic before I got into reading them, and so when I finally started reading comics I decided to buy the first volume of Ms. Marvel. And I fell in love! I honestly love Kamala so much and I really can’t wait to get my hands on the second and third volumes!
  • The Land of Stories: A Grimm Warning by Chris Colfer – I finally ordered this book, yay! Mainly because it takes about a year for the paperback to come out after the hardback is released, but even so it took me a bit longer to purchase it. I can’t wait to get started in it, because I honestly really enjoy these books!
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl DVD – My friend and I went to a secondhand shop, where we saw a lot of DVD’s we liked. I decided to get the first Pirates movie, because I honestly love these movies so much, and come on it was only a euro! For the two-disk version, that is very very cheap! Yay!
  • Hulk DVD – Last month my friend and I decided to watch the Incredible Hulk, but we stopped watching after half an hour of not even watching the movie at all. It wasn’t the version I knew, which turned out to be Hulk. So when we were at that second-hand shop, and I saw this DVD for a euro, I decided to buy it. Even though the box was broken and the second disk (with the extra’s) was missing, oh well..
  • Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins– After reading Anna and the French Kiss, I was kind of hooked and I wanted to read the other two books in this companion series too. When Lola arrived, I saw that it was a lot taller than Anna which is such a shame, but hey it’s still a book that can be read!

Received:

  • Kick-Ass DVD -My dad, sister and I went to Makro this month, which is like a bulk-supermarket kind of store. You can buy – for example – popcorn in a large bucket or a box with eighteen bags of it. It’s handy for companies or people like us who eat a lot of popcorn, hahaha! But they also have a lot of other stuff, including DVD’s. I saw this Kick-Ass DVD for only €3,50; I’d been wanting to watch this movie ever since I found out both Quicksilvers (Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Evan Peters) were in it. So I bought it (or well my dad did). I’ve watched the movie already and it’s not a masterpiece, but I enjoyed it!
  • X-Men: Days of Future Past DVD –  And then, also at the Makro, I saw this X-Men dvd for a lot less than what they ask for it in normal shops, so I decided to bring it with me. I love the X-Men movies, and I really want them on DVD so I was super happy to find this one there, yay!

Netgalley:

  • Gilded by Christina Farley – I saw the third book as a Read Now on Goodreads and decided to see if the first and second were on there as well. They were, but as request books. So I requested Gilded, the first book in the series, and got accepted! I’ve just started reading it, and so far it sounds promising!

Books read:

Books read this month: 11 books read, including two rereads.
Total books read so far this year: 82 out of 125 books.

For August I didn’t have a Book Jar book because I was going to read only Netgalley books. But for September, the book from my Book Jar is going to be:
