Top Ten Hyped Books I (Still) Haven’t Read
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. It has you listing a top ten of (mostly) books with a certain subject. This week’s subject is ‘hyped books I still haven’t read’. The first five on my list are books that I do want to read, and hopefully will soon. The last five are books that I am not planning on reading at all.
Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick – I’ve had an anti-angel thing for a while because A LOT of the books that were coming out around that time were about angels and demons. But just like with vampires I got over that and now I am curious for some of the books that I’ve ignored for so long, including Hush Hush.
Looking for Alaska by John Green – A while back I tried to read this book, but I couldn’t really get into it. Now that I’ve heard there’s going to be a movie based on this book, I want to try again. This time I’ll get a physical version instead of an ebook because I’ve found out that sometimes I just don’t like reading ebooks.
Eragon by Christopher Paolini – I tried reading the book – and I got stuck – I tried reading the movie – and I cried my eyes out at the atrocity that is Eragon the movie. I do love stories about dragons so I do really want to read this but I don’t know – it just has a LOTR feel over it and y’all know how long it took me to read Lord of the Rings (if you don’t, it’s a month, and if I hadn’t forced myself to finish the books it would have taken me much much longer).
I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson – EVERYONE loves this book, and that makes me very wary. Because EVERYONE loved We Were Liars and I didn’t love it. And EVERYONE loves The Winner’s Curse and I am currently reading it and not getting it. So I am very very wary of books that EVERYONE loves. Yeah.
Angelfall by Susan Ee – Same with Hush Hush, I was avoiding Angel books like the plague, but now I guess I could give some of them a try!
Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James – Three words: OH. HELL. NO.
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon – These books are big. Very big. Almost as big as the Game of Thrones books which I gave up on reading. So yeah, I’ll probably be that asshole that watches the TV show and doesn’t read the book. Sorry, not sorry.
The Infernal Devices and basically every other book by Cassandra Clare – I don’t like Cassandra Clare’s writing. I got through two and two-quarters of her books and I praise myself for making it that far. As much as I LOVE the covers for the Infernal Devices series, I will most likely only be picking these up if someone buys them for me. Because I ain’t spending money on this shit.
Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card – Not just because the author is (from what I’ve heard) homophobic, but because I don’t know – this book just doesn’t interest me at all.
The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer – Yeah does this need explaining? This is the book series that made me loathe vampires and werewolves, that made me want to avoid books written about those two creatures for all eternity. I’ve tried reading passages of these books, but I couldn’t do it, I just couldn’t. It surprises me that I actually did watch the first three movies (or two? I don’t remember). The only reason I would want to continue watching the movies is Lee Pace.
