Behind the Scenes

NaNoWriMo 2012

It’s time for NaNoWriMo again, aka National Novel Writing Month. This year I have decided to oficially participate, because there has been a story idea in my head for several months now, and I really want to write it down properly. I don’t know if I will even publish this story at the end of the month, because I am still not a huge fan of doing that. But I am going to write it properly now, and edit it before I’ll even think about publishing it or something like that. But that’s something to worry about in December!

I found this list that I can fill in, so I can tell you something about my story..

Working Title: Magic (completely rubbish, I know, but I can’t think of anything else, also it contains magic).
Genre: (Young Adult) Fantasy (or something in that direction)
Projected Word Count: 50,000+

AT THE START DO YOU:

Have an outline? Yes, I have quite a lot of ideas that I am planning on working out
Scene-by-scene? Not exactly
Know how it starts? Yes.
Know how it ends? Not exactly.
Have your climax in order? Yes.
Have your main characters yet? Yes.
Plan to draw on your experiences? Perhaps

IS YOUR WORK GOING TO BE:

Funny? Sometimes
Serious? Yes.
Sad? Yes, at some points.
Semi-Autobiographical? No.
Based on another story? Well, people might thing it’s based on Harry Potter and Tomorrow When the War Began, because magic and war and kids surviving in a forest (and other people’s houses) and stuff like that – but idk.

HOW MUCH HAVE YOU PLANNED? HAVE YOU USED:

A paper journal? No.
A computer? Yes.
Index cards? No.
Bulleted lists? Yes.
Character Charts: No.
Character formulas? No.

ODDS AND ENDS:

Favorite writing resource? Idk.
A line you would like to use: A couple which are being rewritten over and over again inside my head.
A scene you would like to include: Ehm, a scene where the main character gets poisoned and ends up the ‘prisoner’ of someone.
A concept you would like to explore: The things people would do to get their freedom back.
A cliché you would like avoid: Love triangles.
A character you would like to use: Don’t know.

FORWARD THINKING:

Do you expect to be able to complete it? I hope so.
Do you intend to complete it? Yes.
Would you ever try to publish it? I don’t know, I don’t really like publishing stuff I wrote, because I always think people will hate it, or tell me that I stole the idea from some book I’ve never read.
What do you expect to get out this month of frantic writing? All the idea’s I have for this story to be written on paper (or computer), so I can think of other things.

Wish me luck!
