I was so excited when I first heard of this movie. Mainly because at twenty-one I am still a big Disney fan, and I always love it when they announce a new movie. Unfortunately, promotion material and trailers weren’t really released long before the movie, so I had no idea what the movie was going to be about until a couple of weeks before it came out.
But I still loved it a lot! And then when it came out (on the same day as Desolation of Smaug), I couldn’t find anyone who wanted to come with me. So I ended up watching a low quality version which actually meant I could only see the lighter parts of the movie.
Yesterday I finally saw the movie in the cinema, in 3D and oh my gods I love it so much! Though the original story (The Ice Queen, written by Hans Christian Andersen) happened in Denmark, this story felt more like it happened in Norway (mainly because of the fjords, the Norse runes in a book the king reads at the beginning and the northern lights which I don’t think you’ll be able to see in Denmark). And that made me love it even more (because I love Norse Mythology).
Be aware, this review might have spoilers if you haven’t seen the movie!
The Animation – Oh wow, I just loved the animations that Disney has done. The snow and ice was perfect, and the details wow. I really with I had the talent to do such things, but alas I don’t (and I wouldn’t have had the patience either, haha). But wow, I am in love with this movie just for the art and animations alone. Hats off for the people who made this movie!
The Characters – I just loved all the characters, apart from the ‘bad’ ones of course View Spoiler »(*cough* hans *cough*) « Hide Spoiler. But my absolute favourite has got to be Olaf, the snowman. I just fell in love with him after seeing a short video of him and Sven (the reindeer), and when I saw him in the movie, I loved him even more. Though he might have just been the comic relief of this movie, I thought he was really funny, and I really want to have my own Olaf.
And of course, I loved Anna and Elsa; and Kristoff, and Sven. I just loved this movie! Also, there’s a little surprise in this movie, at the beginning, during the song ‘For the First Time in Forever’ we see the guests walking through the gates, and we see Rapunzel (with her short brown hair) and Eugene walking past Anna! When I saw that for the first time, I laughed so hard (because a lot of people on the internet had been angry that Anna and Elsa looked a lot like Rapunzel.. because they were animated/drawn/made by the same people who made Rapunzel, duh).
The Romance – Of course, with almost (almost) any other Disney movie, there’s a bit of romance. I won’t tell you which characters, but there was one romance that I really liked from the moment they met. And in the end, they ended up together, and that just made me so happy. And I loved the ‘bromance’ between Anna and Elsa, and of course between Sven and Olaf (they are BFF’s seriously).
The Songs – I LOVED the songs! Absolutely loved them! When I first watched the movie, I looked up the soundtrack and listened to Let it Go at least fifty times that evening. So that’s basically my favourite song of them all. And Olaf’s song about Summer was both adorable and sad (because he doesn’t know what happens to snow in summer, awwww)!
In the end, I absolutely loved this movie and I am going to watch it over and over and over and over again until I get sick of it (and then I’ll probably watch it another hundred times)!
