Best of the Year

In 2014: Movies I am Looking Forward To

movies released
And the last list of this year, this one is about the movies I am looking forward to the most in 2014. I have decided to cancel my Pathé Unlimited pas, and to go for a Platinum pas at my local cinema; because that’s a lot easier and closer to home. So I’ll still be going to a lot of movies next year! Anyway, this list is sorted in order of their release date.

01. Ender’s Game | 23 January | IMDb

I wasn’t entirely sure if I wanted to see this movie, mainly because I haven’t read the book, and because I heard some nasty things about the writer; but when I saw the trailer for the first time in the cinema, I was kinda blown away. Though I still don’t know what it’s about exactly (yes, I’ll go and read the book), it looks really awesome!

02. Divergent | 20 March | IMDb

Yes yes yes, ever since I found out they were making Divergent into a movie, I was jumping up and down. I didn’t know any of the actors that had been cast (although I think one of them played in Torchwood, but that’s exactly the season that I haven’t watched). But yay I am so excited for this movie!

03. Captain America: The Winter Soldier | 27 March | IMDb

Captain America was the first Marvel movie that I watched (after the Avengers I think, or the other way around), and I loved it! It has so many of my favourite actors in it, and the movie itself was just amazing as well. So when this sequel was announced, I was really excited! They showed the trailer in the cinema a couple of weeks ago and I was nearly jumping up and down in my seat, haha!

04. The Book Thief | 27 March | IMDb

One of best books in the world, in my opinion, and it’s made into a movie! Unfortunately, when it came out in November in America, we (the rest of the world) had to wait until at least March to see the movie. But hey, that’s alright, because March is coming closer!

05. Maleficent | 29 May | IMDb

I love Sleeping Beauty, honestly she’s my favourite Disney princess! Though I would still love to see a ‘real people’ movie of Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent is close enough. This movie is about the villain of the story, and it just looks so amazing, I can’t wait!

06. The Fault in Our Stars | 5 June | IMDb

Another beautiful book, and hopefully another beautiful (but heartbreaking) movie. This movie will star both Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, who are also starring in Divergent (this time as Tris and Caleb), and I just can’t wait to see them in both movies!

07. Guardians of the Galaxy | 14 August | IMDb

Another Marvel movie, and though I don’t really know what this movie will be about, I have added it to my list anyway, mainly because I heard Karen Gillan was playing a role in it (this is the role she shaved all of her beautiful ginger hair off for); and then I found out Lee Pace (aka Thranduil) was playing a role in this movie as well, and that’s when I knew I had to see it, and I don’t even care what the movie’ll be about!

08. The Maze Runner | 25 September | IMDb

I loved this book so much, because though it was a dystopia about teenagers, it was different from all the other dystopia books that I’ve read (mainly because the main character was a boy, probably). I am really glad they’re making it into a movie, and I can’t wait to see it. A bit of a shame the movie got pushed back though (the original release date was somewhere in February I think).

09. Mockingjay Pt1 | 19 November | IMDb

The first part of Mockingjay, yes what can I say about it. Not my favourite book of the series (that’s still the Hunger Games), but I loved it anyway. I can’t wait to see all the things that happened in Mockingjay to come alive on the screen, and the thing I am most curious about is District Thirteen (and the part where the movie ends of course).

10. The Hobbit: There and Back Again | 17 December | IMDb

Actually I don’t want to see this movie. Not at all. People who’ve read the book, and people who know me might know why (spoiler: some of my favourite characters die). This movie will probably be all about the Battle of the Five Armies, and about Bilbo’s trip back to the Shire, but I just don’t want to see the BOTFA happen, I really don’t. I am probably going to lie down in the cinema and sing a song until the movie’s over. Haha! (Okay yes I am looking forward to seeing more of Peter Jackson’s awesome filming skills).

And with the end of this list, I want to wish you all a happy new year, and I hope next year is going to be as good as this year! (I was supposed to post this yesterday, but I had to leave and forgot to post it, so here it is now!)
