Of course, with a ‘released movies’ list, there’s got to be a ‘seen movies’ list. Movies that I would have loved to see in the cinema when they were released, but that I just didn’t have the time/money for. Anyway, here’s my list of movies I’ve seen this year that were released in previous years. I have sorted them in alphabetical order.
Like I said in my previous post, I have always loved Disney (and Pixar) movies. This has got to be one of my favourites though, with a Scottish princess who’s good with a bow and arrow. This movie doesn’t have any songs but that doesn’t make it less awesome. I just LOVED it!
I hadn’t liked The Avengers when I watched it, but I still wanted to watch more Marvel movies, because those might be more awesome. And I was right. Both Thor and this one turned out to be a lot better in my opinion. I just loved this movie a lot, because it had a lot of actors I knew (Richard Armitage, Toby Jones, Stanley Tucci, Hugo Weaving, etc), and because I just really liked the story. I can’t wait for the second part, that comes out next year!
A remake of a short movie made by Tim Burton a long time ago. I had seen the short version on my Nightmare Before Christmas DVD and I just loved it. And of course the longer remake turned out to be just as amazing!
I had this period where I wanted to watch a lot of movies that featured Saoirse Ronan. So I went to watch Byzantium, the Host (again) and this movie, Hanna. Out of the three, I liked Hanna the most, because it’s just a really good movie, and it’s also got Cate Blanchett (Galadriel in LOTR/the Hobbit) in it and oh it was a perfect movie!
I had heard of Lord of the Rings the cartoon before, but I hadn’t really wanted to watch it. Until I saw the VHS on someone’s blanket during Queen’s Day (where people sell a shitload of stuff they don’t want for not a lot of money), and Tanja and I went to watch it. We never really finished it, until we had a Hobbit Drinking game party at a friend’s house, and we didn’t feel like going to sleep; so we watched the rest of the movie. And oh it is both the best and worst movie in the world. Even if you don’t like Tolkien’s stories (why wouldn’t you?) you should just go and watch this cartoon!
I had read the book that this movie based on a while ago, both in Dutch and in English (Before I Die by Jenny Downham), and when I heard they were going to make it into a movie, I was both excited and a tiny bit scared; because the book doesn’t really end that well and I didn’t want to see that happen on a screen. I did end up loving the movie though, and I actually feel like rewatching it soon!
This movie was just amazing. It had the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Sand Man and of course Jack Frost. I had heard a lot of good things about this movie on Tumblr, but of course you know me – I ended up watching movies I watched a thousand times another time, before I eventually got myself to watch a new movie, and what a movie it was!
I wanted to watch this movie because of Jennifer Lawrence, because I just thought she was an amazing actress (which she is) and I wanted to watch a lot of movies starring her. Though I normally wouldn’t have watched this movie, I really liked it, mainly because of Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence’s performances.
Like I said, I had been interested in the Norse Mythology, ever since I watched the Almighty Johnsons. Though I really do not like Loki (while the rest of the internet seems to love him and think he’s ‘misunderstood’), I loved this movie! I loved learning more about the Norse Gods, and I thought it was funny to see all the differences between the TAJ Gods and the Marvel Gods.
Another one in the category of ‘I wanted to watch this movie but I watched a shitload of movies I’d already seen instead’. When I did end up watching it, it turned out to be an amazing movie; I just loved the concept of the video/arcade game characters being real and actually living in their video games. I loved the story of the bad guy wanting to be a hero and wanting to do anything for it. I LOVED IT!
And that’s post number six already, stay tuned for number seven tomorrow, which will be about events I’ve been to this year!
