NaNoWriMo Week 1

Published by Nessa Luna on

The first full week of NaNoWriMo has nearly come to its end, and I though it would be nice to tell you how I am doing.

To be honest, I am not doing very well. I haven’t even gotten to 10.000 words yet, because I am stuck. I do have an idea of what I want to do with the rest of my story, but I have no idea how to get there. I have been thinking about it for the past couple of days, and I have written like 200 words in those four days. And don’t talk to me about ending the story, because I honestly still don’t know what I am going to do with that. I was planning on writing a lot this weekend, but I hardly got anything done, especially because I went to the movies yesterday.

The first couple of days went perfect, I had a lot of inspiration, and I wrote a lot in a short amount of time. But then, I got stuck for a bit, after writing not more than 5000 words. I decided that there was a part in the story that I didn’t like, so I rewrote it, and I got some more inspiration. But now that I am at 9500 words, I am stuck again. But it’s not that the part that I’ve written bothers me so much that I can’t write any further, it’s just that I don’t know what I want my characters to do. I planned on having at least 25.000 words before I went to the second part of my idea, but that means I still need to write 15.500 words of stuff. And of course I have to keep it interesting, because I don’t want people to stop reading after only ten pages or so.

I had saved a picture a while ago, with some good tips on it, so I think I’m going to go and use those. I might also use a random prompt generator to see if I get some ideas from that. Anyone else who’s got some good tips for me?

And how are you doing? Leave a comment!
