Behind the Scenes

A to Z of me.

I saw this idea on this blog, and decided to do it as well. I’ll list a letter of the alphabet, and then I’ll list something that I like that starts with that letter. I’ll also add some pictures. Here we go.

A: Apple(s) – Both the brand and the fruit. I like apples, though I hardly ever eat them, because we hardly ever have them. I don’t like apple juice though, it’s really disgusting. And I am also very happy with my iPhone, which is basically my precioussssss *gollum voice*.

B: Books – I love books. Absolutely love them. I’m actually quite addicted to buying books, and shoving them on a shelf until I finally read them after about three months of rereading books I’ve already read a hundred times before.

C: Canon – My other precious. When I graduated from High School in 2008, I got a Canon EOS 400D from my parents. I was really into photography ever since I was a little girl, and I always took the ‘family camera’ with me, until in 2008 I got my own precious. I am going to save money for a EOS 1100D, or at least one that can also film, because I’d love to have both film- and photography in one camera (I do have a HD film camera but it’s annoying to bring both with me every time).

D: Dwarves, Doctor Who – Last year the first Hobbit movie came out, and we were introduced to the thirteen dwarves: Thorin, Fili, Kili, Balin, Dwalin, Dori, Nori, Ori, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Oin and Gloin. I imediately fell in love with all of them. At HobbitCon this year, I met a couple of those dwarves (I’ve italicized their names), and Radagast the Brown as well, and I found out that they’re all amazing people, and amazing dwarves as well!

“The first nineteen years of my life, nothing happened. Nothing at all. But then I met a man called the Doctor.” Which is actually quite accurate for me. I started watching Doctor Who (my favourite show) when I was nineteen, two years ago, and I fell in love with the show, its Doctors, its companions and its monsters. I have watched all seven seasons of “New Who” and I am planning on watching at least Sylvester McCoy’s episodes of “Old Who” or “Classic Who”.

E: E-reader – Though I love the smell of books, and though I love to buy and read books, being able to flip towards my favourite parts without any trouble, I do have an e-reader. A BeBook Club S to be precise. I usually use it to read books that most people didn’t like, or books that I’m not sure I will like, and books that I don’t want to buy because of those reasons. It’s a nice e-reader, and I’ve gotten myself a nice little cover for it, so I won’t damage it.

F: (Fan)Fiction – I love to read, and I love to write. Both stories based on TV shows and movies that I’ve watched (aka fanfiction), and also stories that have their own made up worlds, and own made up characters. I write a lot, mostly some random ideas that pop up in my head, but I hardly ever publish something, because I’m just afraid of people not liking it. Perhaps, one day, when I actually manage to finish a story that I’ve started, I’ll post it online.

G: Graphic Design – When I was sixteen, I was really into making things in Photoshop. Editing pictures I made, making posters, fake magazines, and a lot more things like that. I decided I wanted to be a graphic designer, and I went to the Media College in Amsterdam to study it. It turned out to be something completely different from what I thought, though I did learn a lot of new things, it wasn’t what I wanted to do. I quit after a year and a half (and I still haven’t started something new), but I still do make stuff in Photoshop (I’ve deleted all the other programs we were supposed to work with at school, because it took a lot of space on my computer). But being a Graphic Designer is nothing for me.

H: Hobbits, HobbitCon – I’ve always liked Hobbits. Ever since I saw the first Lord of the Rings movie, which was in 2002, I believe. Then I watched the second, and went to see the third in the cinema with my dad and sister. When I heard they were going to make a movie out of the Hobbit, the book that happened before LOTR, I decided to buy the book an read it. It was amazing. The movie came out and I fell in love. I can’t wait for the second movie to come out, in December this year.

HobbitCon was a convention held in Bonn in March/April this year. It was the first convention I went to, and I loved it! I met some new people, met some of the actors from the Hobbit, dressed up as an elf, bought some stuff, had my picture taken with some of the actors, and partied all night long (okay perhaps we partied until like 2am). If there is going to be a HobbitCon again next year, I’ll definitely be going!

I: Internet – The one thing we can’t life without. I met some of my friends on the internet, and I keep in touch with them through the internet. I watch most of my shows on the internet, and I talk about them on the internet. I LOVE THE INTERNET!

J: Jokes – I like jokes. I like hearing/reading them, and I like making them. I love stupid jokes that no one else thinks are funny. The one thing I can’t stand though, are April fools jokes. Because everyone uses the same ones every year. I would love to tell you a joke right now, but the only one I can think of is a Dutch one, and it doesn’t sound funny in English. There is this one video, made by Hank Green (John Green’s brother), which has 52 jokes in less than four minutes. Y’all should watch it!

K: Kittens – I love cats. Big cats, small cast, baby cats, old cats; but I have a special place in my heart for kittens (don’t we all). I can spend the entire day watching videos of kittens falling off of things, or kittens meowing, kittens drinking milk, kittens playing with balls of string. I LOVE KITTENS. I wish there was some way of having them stay a kitten forever.

L: Language – I’ve always been better at languages than stuff like Math and History. I enjoyed doing my English, Dutch and German homework, even my French, though I was really bad at it. A couple of years ago, I fell in love with Finland, and I was determined to learn at least a couple of words in Finnish. I bought a little book, and started learning. I never really got that good at Finnish, but I’m still trying. When I went to Wales, I learned some Welsh words from a book that we found at the hotel. I really want to learn some more Welsh words, as soon as I can!

M: Magic – I don’t really believe in magic (anymore), but has been a great part of my life. When I was a kid, I got the first Harry Potter book. From that moment on I fell in love with the boy that lived. I read all the books so many times that my paperbacks started to fall apart. Then, of course, the movies came out, and I watched them all so many times that I can quote EVERYTHING. I was devastated when the last book came out in 2007, and even more when the last movie came out in 2011. They will always be in my heart, and I will NEVER let them go.

N: Nailpolish – One of the other things I’m addicted to. I currently have about 90 different nailpolish colours, and I haven’t even used all of them. I made a post about all my nailpolishes a while ago, and I’ve added some more colours to my collection since that post.. I’ll probably never stop buying nailpolish!

O: Only Seven Left – I first saw this band live in 2008, and I actually neved stopped loving them. I’ve seen them about 90+ times now, and my first tattoo was kinda dedicated to them (I have the title of their first album tattoed on my wrist). I went to England and Wales to see them perform, and I’d probably travel a lot further than that to see them!

P: Photography – Like I already said, I love photography. I mostly do concert photography, and I make a lot of pictures of my cats when I’m bored. October Tune was actually made to be my portfolio website, but I started blogging on it in stead. I am working on putting together my portfolio, of not only photography, but graphic design as well, but I’m afraid that’s gonna take a while, because ‘procrastinate’ is my middle name!

Q: Quotes – I like quoting people, movies and TV shows. Most of my tweets are quotes from movies or TV shows, and I use a lot of quotes in real life when I talk to people. Not all of those people understand what I’m talking about, but once in a while, someone does, and that’s awesome.

R: Rewatches/Rereads – Every once in a while, I reread a book series, or rewatch a movie series or tv series. Just because I feel like visiting Hogwarts again, or Middle Earth. I usually rewatch Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter (reread also), Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sherlock; and this is the reason why I hardly ever read any new books, or watch any new shows or movies.

S: Shopping, Sleeping Beauty – Something I hated a very long time. I didn’t like going from shop to shop to buy clothes and shoes and stuff, but I’ve grown to like it. It’s not like I go shopping every weekend or so, but when I do, I do enjoy it. Mostly because I always go shopping with friends, who like the same things I like, so it makes it a lot easier. Nine out of ten times, when I go shopping I buy t-shirts, necklaces, nailpolish or books. I have got way too many t-shirts, and I hardly ever wear most of them, but I just keep on buying them.

If I were a Disney princess, I’d be Sleeping Beauty, because I really like to sleep. I do have a lot of Disney princess stuff in my room, from things printed on canvas, to little plastic princess figures (I have Rapunzel, twice, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty); I have soap, stickers, and I once had a ring with Sleeping Beauty on it, but unfortunately it broke.

T: Tumblr, TV shows – I found out about tumblr through Bart, Only Seven Left’s previous singer. He had a tumblr account, and I though it looked amazing, so I made an account as well. Now I’m kinda addicted to Tumblr, I basically spend every day on the website, and basically just reblog a lot of posts about things I like, I met some awesome people on Tumblr!

I am quite addicted to TV shows as well. Not just watching them, but downloading them as well. I’ve watched shows like Being Human, Once Upon a Time, Doctor Who, Torchwood, American Horror Story, and I’m planning on watching a lot more. I’ve made a list on Listograhpy, with all the TV shows that I’m planning on watching.

U: At the moment, I can’t think of anything with a U.

V: At the moment, I can’t think of anything with a V.

W: Wales – I first went to Wales in 2011, when Only Seven Left played a show in Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff. We had planned on going to Bristol after that, to attend OSL’s show there, but the Bristol show got cancelled, and we decided to stay in Cardiff a bit longer. And then I fell in love with the city. Later, when I started watching Doctor Who, I fell in love with it even more, because the majority of DW was filmed in and around Cardiff. In 2012, I went back to Cardiff with a friend, and we visited a lot of DW locations, and the Doctor Who experience. It was the most awesome vacation ever!

X: At the moment, I can’t think of anything with an X.

Y: At the moment, I can’t think of anything with a Y.

Z: Zzz – Like I said, I love sleeping. Unfortunately it’s one of those things that are really difficult for me. I can never sleep before 2am, I never wake up before 11am, and I can definitely NOT sleep at other people’s houses. I usually sleep with all the lights off (unless I’ve watched a horror movie), and I sleep with plugs in my ear, so I won’t hear a thing. And even though I sleep enough every night, when I wake up in the morning (or afternoon), I still feel so tired. Ugh.
