Ten Bookish Names I’d Give to my Cats
Back in the days, people named their children after their mothers, their fathers, relatives or good friends they loved. Today, people name their children all kinds of things. They give them names of gems, brands, but also, characters from books or movies they loved. Today’s top ten is all about that subject. And seeing as I do not want to have children, I will talk about the ten characters I’d name my cats after. Because let’s be real, I will probably have a thousand cats in the future. Or at least ten.
Fili and Kili – I have always wanted two cats; one ginger (like pale ginger? you get me?) and one black, and then name them Fili and Kili. Because those two were my favourite dwarves of Thorin’s company and I still have a lot of feelings about them.
Luna Lovegood – Because of course, Luna is still my favourite character in the Harry Potter world. Probably if I got a white cat.
Snuffles – It would be funny to give Sirius’ dog name to a cat. A black one then, of course.
Wanda and Pietro – One black/brown, one white, and then they would be the Maximoff twins. I love these two so so so much, and I don’t care which version – the MCU version, the Xmen version, comic version – I love them.
Thor – I know at least three people who’ve named their (black) cats Loki, and I want to break that ‘tradition’ and get a cat and call him Thor.
Buttercup – If I got a really fluffy ginger cat, I would definitely call him Buttercup. Or…
Crookshanks – Because basically, they’re the same type of cat, I guess. I think I’m going to have to throw up a coin to decide whether to call this cat Buttercup of Crookshanks. Hmm.
The Dregs – I would have to get six cats, which is the opposite of a problem of course, and name them Kaz, Inej, Nina, Matthias, Wylan, and Jesper. And then hope they don’t rob and kill me in my sleep.
Lockjaw – Lockjaw is the massive Inhuman dog from the Marvel comics, and I would love to name a cat after him (her?). Of course, I could get a dog as well, but I’m not a huge dog person and so I would probably get a pug.
All the dwarves in Thorin Oakenshield’s company – Which means I would have thirteen cats. Thorin, Fili, Kili. Balin, Dwalin. Bifur, Bofur, Bombur. Oin, Gloin. Nori, Dori, Ori. Easy. They would all have to wear name tags though because I am pretty sure I am going to get confused after a while.
And that concludes my naming fantasy. I really do mean to give at least one of these names to my cats, you know if I ever move out. And to close it off, here is a picture of my loser cats.
