July Movies I Want to See

Published by Nessa Luna on

Seeing as the weather this month is absolute garbage (okay we’re only a couple of days into the month, I have hope), it’s the perfect time to go and see a couple of movies. In this post, I will share with you the three movies I am looking forward to seeing the most this month!

The Legend of Tarzan – 7 July

Synopsis: Tarzan, having acclimated to life in London, is called back to his former home in the jungle to investigate the activities at a mining encampment. Cast: Alexander Skarsgård, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Margot Robbie. Source: IMDB.

I have always loved the old Tarzan movie by Disney, and I really hope I will enjoy this one as well! Haven’t seen too much of this movie around to be honest, though I did see a trailer on TV a couple of days ago. I just hope it’s going to be good.

The Big Friendly Giant (BFG) – 20 July

Synopsis: A girl named Sophie encounters the Big Friendly Giant who, despite his intimidating appearance, turns out to be a kindhearted soul who is considered an outcast by the other giants because, unlike them, he refuses to eat children. Cast: Mark Rylance, Ruby Barnhill, Penelope Wilton, Rebecca Hall. Source: IMDB.

I honestly don’t remember if I’ve ever seen the old movie, or if I just heard the story, but I was really excited when I heard they were bringing out a new – non-animated – version of this. I think I might just (re)watch the old version before this one, just because!

Star Trek Beyond – 21 July

Synopsis: The USS Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.  Cast: Anton Yelchin, Zoe Saldana, Idris Elba, Chris Pine, Sofia Boutella, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Zachary Quinto, John Cho. Source: IMDB.

I watched the first Star Trek movie (with this cast) a couple of years ago and didn’t enjoy it all too much. But the trailer for this new movie looked rather interesting, so we decided we would want to see this movie. Which meant we had to (re)watch the older movies first. I do think it’s going to be sad, with the recent death of Anton Yelchin (because honestly, his character is my favourite out of the whole crew).

So yeah, these are the three movies I am looking forward to the most. There are some other interesting sounding movies coming out as well, but for now, I’ll just stick to these three and see what else comes on my path!
