RingCon is a huge convention held every year in the Maritim hotel in Bonn, Germany. Last year they had some actors from the Hunger Games, and some StarKid members (which is the reason I felt really bummed I couldn’t go). This year they won’t only have Ringcon in October, but they have also decided to host a new convention: HobbitCon! A convention for the fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s book, and Peter Jackson’s movies, The Hobbit.
HobbitCon will be held during the Easter weekend (this year that’s from 30 March til the 1st of April) and will also be in the Maritim hotel in Bonn, Germany. Guess who’s going there? If you guessed me, you’re absolutely right! Last week, Tanja and I bought our tickets and booked the hotel. We only need to figure out how we’re going to get there, either by car or by train, and then all that’s left is counting down the days until we leave!
As for actors, they have invited eight out of thirteen dwarves: Mark Hadlow (Dori), Jed Brophy (Nori), Adam Brown (Ori), John Callen (Oin), Peter Hambleton (Gloin), Stephen Hunter (Bombur), James Nesbitt (Bofur), Dean O’Gorman (Fili), and they have also invited Sylvester McCoy who plays Radagast (and played the Seventh Doctor in Doctor Who!). Aidan Turner (Kili) was also invited, but unfortunately he had to cancel.
I am not planning on getting a picture with all of them (maybe when I meet them in the hallways or something) but I will certainly be taking a picture with Dean O’Gorman and Sylvester McCoy, because those are the ones I am most excited about. I’ll see about autographs when I get there.
This will be my first convention ever (not counting the Doctor Who fanday) and I am really nervous but also very excited about it. I hope I’ll meet loads of cool people and I just hope it lives up to my expectations!
