I love paperbacks. They are cheap, they are easy to read and a lot less heavy. But I also love hardcovers, even though I hardly ever buy those. Out of my books (more than 200 at the moment) 33 are hardcover. Most of these are either second-hand or bought with (a lot of) discounts. I do believe there are maybe five of these hardcovers that I’d bought full price.
Still, there are some book series that I’d consider re-buying in hardcover, just because I love them so much. Today I’ll share with you which series they are!
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
You saw this one coming right? I own two sets of paperback books – Dutch and English. I do currently own a hardcover edition of the illustrated Philosopher’s Stone, but honestly I really want this set of books in hardcover. Maybe I’ll buy a box set when I’ve got the money, maybe I’ll buy them all separately, but my goal is to own these in hardcover!
The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
I love these books so much, and after I bought Fairest in hardcover (because I refused to wait an extra month for the paperback), I thought it might be a better idea to buy the main series in hardcover as well. Even though I have just pre-ordered Winter in paperback. My paperback books look worn – the spines are cracked so much, I can’t take normal pictures of it if I’ve got my lights on because they reflect too much and you can’t read them. Yes it makes them look loved – but still, I’d buy them in hardcover if I could! (Maybe in a couple of years)
Divergent series by Veronica Roth
Again, because I have one of the books in hardcover, I am considering getting the rest of the series in hardcover as well. Also because I just love this series, even the last book! But I am (hopefully) meeting her next month, which won’t be enough time for me to get the remaining three books (the main series) in hardcover, so I guess I’ll just keep my paperbacks.
The Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
Recently I bought a new copy of Six of Crows, a sort of spin-off series to the Grisha trilogy, because it was beautiful, it was cheap (18 euros for a hardcover is cheap in my eyes, as most hardcovers cost 20-25 euros in my country) and it had those amazing black sides. Though I would probably not get rid of my old copies (especially not Shadow and Bone because it’s signed), I would love to get the Grisha trilogy in hardcover. Oh well, I guess I’ll just buy the rest of the Dregs series in hardcover! *hearteyes*
The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas
And last but not least, the Throne of Glass series, which is just amazing. I love those American covers, but the English (white) covers look super cool too. Though I think this is the series I am least likely to buy in hardcover, because there are just so many books (okay Harry Potter has seven books too but that’s a different story, shh). If I can get them somewhere for cheap, maybe I’ll do it. But for now, I’ll just keep on buying the English covers!
So these are the books I’d consider buying in hardcover. Do you prefer hardcover or paperbacks?
