My Childhood: W.I.T.C.H.

When I was a teenager, these magazines called W.I.T.C.H. had started coming out. At that time I was very interested in everything about witches and witchcraft so I decided to check it out. It was not at all about witches but it was amazing anyway. I don’t know how many copies of the magazines I bought nor where they went, but I loved them a lot and I fantasised about being just like Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia and Hay-Lin.

A couple of days ago I found a link to where I could read all the W.I.T.C.H. comics, even download them. So I did that, put them all on my tablet, and basically, that’s all I’ve been reading for the past week. (Completely neglecting all the other books I was reading, oops).

W.I.T.C.H. is about five girls whose names I mentioned above (see how their initials spell Witch?!) who find out they are the guardians of Kandrakar. They get the powers of the elements (Irma gets Water, Taranee gets Fire, Cornelia gets Earth and Hay-Lin gets Air; Will gets the powers of the Heart of Kandrakar). But being a guardian isn’t as easy as they perhaps thought it would be. There are a lot of enemies out there, who want the guardians dead and the Heart in their hands.

I just love the characters, and the story and I really love the way everything’s drawn. I don’t remember how many of the comics I read, but I’m pretty sure I’d read most of the first ‘Arc’. I don’t really remember the ending from when I first read it (maybe I never did read the last comic?) but I do remember the rest of it and it’s really nice!

It’s certainly made me want to read more graphic novels/comics because they are just so easy to read – though I might be cheating on my reading challenge a bit with them, oh well… I am thinking about reading more Marvel comics and perhaps start that Saga series that everyone loves so much.

W.I.T.C.H. can be read (all 139 comics of the original story and a lot of extra’s) on this forum. You can download .rar or .cbr files from this website! I am actually going to go and see if I can find my original magazines somewhere!

Have you read W.I.T.C.H.?
