A couple of days ago, I finished reading The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy and almost immediately wrote my review. But then, I realised that the book wouldn’t be released until May. Do I post the review now already to get people excited for the book? Or do I wait until about a week before the book is released? I decided eventually to do the latter, but I still wanted to make a little post to get you all excited for this book!
The title sounds awesome, but what is this book about?
Fanfic, cosplay, cons, books, memes, podcasts, vlogs, OTPs and RPGs and MMOs and more—it’s never been a better time to be a girl geek. The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy is the ultimate handbook for ladies living the nerdy life, a fun and feminist take on the often male-dominated world of geekdom. With delightful illustrations and an unabashed love for all the in(ternet)s and outs of geek culture, this book is packed with tips, playthroughs, and cheat codes for everything from starting an online fan community to planning a convention visit to supporting fellow female geeks in the wild.
So basically, The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy is a non-fiction book about how to become an amazing fangirl. It tells you about all the fandoms, fanfiction, tumblr, cosplay, conventions, books, feminism and so much more! I personally really enjoyed reading it, and I hope you will enjoy reading it too!
Check out my reading progress:
The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy is written by Sam Maggs, and will be released in Hardcover on 12 May 2015. You can add the book to Goodreads; and pre-order it from Amazon, Book Depository and (for Dutchies) Bol.com (don’t know if/when there will be a Dutch translation unfortunately).
