Best of 2014: Movies Released in 2014

So for the third post in this Best of series, I am going to talk about movies. More specifically, movies that were released this year (and of course, those that I’ve watched and loved). I was a bit surprised at myself that I saw so many movies that were released this year, because I hadn’t really thought I would at first (I don’t own a Pathé Unlimited Card anymore so I didn’t go to the cinema as much as I would have wanted). But hey, I did watch at least ten movies that were released this year, and they are the following (sorted in order of when they were released (in the Netherlands)).

Divergent – 3 April 2014 – ★★★★★ – Review

How To Train Your Dragon 2 – 2 July 2014 – ★★★★★

When Hiccup and Toothless discover an ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace.

The Fault in Our Stars – 10 July 2014 – ★★★★★ – Review

Two teens, both who have different cancer conditions, fall in love after meeting at a cancer support group.

Guardians of the Galaxy – 31 July 2014 – ★★★★☆

Into the Storm – 20 August 2014 – ★★★★☆ – Review

The Maze Runner – 25 September 2014 – ★★★★★ – Review

Thomas is deposited in a community of boys after his memory is erased, soon learning they’re all trapped in a maze that will require him to join forces with fellow “runners” for a shot at escape.

Dracula Untold – 3 October 2014 – ★★★★☆

As his kingdom is being threatened by the Turks, young prince Vlad Tepes must become a monster feared by his own people in order to obtain the power needed to protect his own family, and the families of his kingdom.

Mockingjay Part One – 20 November 2014 – ★★★★★ – Review

When Katniss destroys the games, she goes to District 13 after District 12 is destroyed. She meets President Coin who convinces her to be the symbol of rebellion, while trying to save Peeta from the Capitol.

The Hobbit: The Battle of (the) Five Armies – 10 December 2014 – ★★★★☆ – Review

Bilbo and Company are forced to engage in a war against an array of combatants and keep the Lone Mountain from falling into the hands of a rising darkness.
