You probably know this feeling; you’ve watched the first (and maybe second) season of a TV show, completely fell in love with the characters, the story, and the actors. You go to IMDB to look up more information about this show, and to your horror, you see the show has been cancelled! After only two seasons! And of course, nothing has been resolved yet, in fact, the second season ended with a CLIFFHANGER!!
Today, I am going to talk to you about three shows I loved so much, that got cancelled ‘before their time’.
Agent Carter – 2 seasons
In 1946, Peggy Carter is relegated to secretarial duties in the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR). When Howard Stark is accused of treason, he secretly recruits Peggy to clear his name with the help of his butler, Edwin Jarvis. Cast: Hayley Atwell, James D’Arcy, Dominic Cooper, Enver Gjokaj, Chad Michael Murray, Bridget Regan.
Gods I loved this show! The characters, the costumes, the story, the ass-kicking. Peggy Carter was one of the best parts of the first Captain America movie, and I was thrilled to find out she was getting her own show. Due to not enough viewers for the second season, which is partly due to the fact it only (officially) aired in America and later the UK, the show was cancelled after two seasons. I WANT MORE PEGGY CARTER DAMNIT. If I could swap the three (or well, maybe the first two?) Captain America movies for one more Agent Carter season, where all loose ends got tied up, I would so do it (can you see I’m not a huge fan of the Cap? Sorry not sorry).
The Almighty Johnsons – 3 seasons
The Almighty Johnsons is a new South Pacific Pictures comedy-drama series about four brothers, raised in heartland New Zealand, who also happen to be the living incarnations of Norse Gods. Cast: Dean O’Gorman, Emmett Skilton, Jared Turner, Ben Barrington, Timothy Balme, Keisha Castle-Hughes.
Okay, I’m going to be fair, this show did have a nice ending, but still, I want more! They did leave a little something to make a fourth season if that ever was going to happen, but so far nothing has happened yet. This show is about Norse Gods in New Zealand, and I bloody loved it! There was some talk of the actors willing to make one more movie, but yeah I don’t think anything is going to happen anymore. I’ll just rewatch these three seasons then.
Pushing Daisies – 2 Seasons
A pie-maker, with the power to bring dead people back to life, solves murder mysteries with his alive-again childhood sweetheart, a cynical private investigator, and a lovesick waitress. Cast: Lee Pace, Anna Friel, Chi McBride, Ellen Greene, Swoosie Kurtz, Kristin Chenoweth.
I will forever be bitter about this show being cancelled because it was amazing. I mean even watching this trailer made me feel all the feels again and gods I really wish this show had gotten so many more seasons! This show is basically about murder, but it’s so colourful and happy that you kind of forget that it’s about that. Lee Pace is amazing, and Anna Friel is amazing and they have such great chemistry, oh why why WHY did this show get cancelled?!
