Behind the Scenes

Wrap-Up: April 2016 pt. 2

So we continue with my wrap-up, this time I’ll tell you which books I actually read this month, which movies and TV shows I’ve seen (and started) and a little bit about my life!

Read, seen, started:

Titles with a * behind it are rereads or rewatches. Titles in italics are currents.

So as you can see I read seven books this month, three of which were rereads. I watched nine movies, three of those rewatches, two part of a marathon. I am currently reading two books and watching one TV show (or well I am watching a thousand actually but there is one I am currently actively watching).

What happened in my life?

April was the month of HobbitCon, where I had the time of my life. I saw all my old friends again, made some new ones, and basically just enjoyed my weekend. I took a picture with Billy Boyd and Ryan Gage, took some secret selfies with John Bell, Sadwyn and Jed Brophy on the dancefloor and cried my eyes out during the closing ceremony. Basically because this was the last ever HobbitCon and because Billy Boyd sang The Last Goodbye live on stage. We took the obligatory group picture with less people than last year unfortunately, but still with a lot of great people!

Then I actively went to work on my cosplays for Amsterdam Comic Con, because I had stalled those for both Dutch Comic Con and HobbitCon so much I ended up not wearing what I had wanted to wear. So I’ve already started collecting items for my two cosplays: Wanda’s Civil War outfit (the one from the airport with the long red coat) and Dark Rey! Yes, I am going to do a dark/Sith version of Rey from Star Wars because I saw this amazing piece of artwork where I guess Rey and Kylo had switched places and I thought ‘I am going to cosplay this’.

I’ve already ordered the trousers and some long fingerless gloves to use for her arms (because I don’t know if I’m going to be able to find black bandages for the arm warps). The shirt will be fairly easy too, the only thing I am a bit concerned about is the sash. Ida from Starbit Cosplay said she used around 5 to 6 meters of fabric to create hers, and I am afraid that it’s going to be the most expensive part of my cosplay. I thought that maybe since I am doing it in black I can just use smaller pieces of fabric and sew them together, so I’ll only need maybe 2 or 3 meters.

Anyway, that is what I am going to work on for the upcoming couple of months. ACC isn’t until August, so I’ve got plenty of time!

Next month

I am turning twenty-four! Yes, can you believe it? I can’t. Oh well, at least I’ll be spending my birthday doing something really cool, because I am going to an X-Men marathon at the cinema. X-Men Apocalypse comes out on the 19th of May, and so Pathé has organised a marathon for the three new movies – First Class, Days of Future Past and of course Apocalypse. I can’t wait to see the new movie!

Further I am going to work on my cosplays and maybe go on a trip through my country, because I have a train ticket with which I can travel freely for one whole day, and maybe my mum, my sister and I will go somewhere cool!

What I want to read: Passenger, Blue Lily Lily Blue, Throne of Fire, A Court of Mist and Fury, Percy Jackson and the Greek Heroes, The Body Electric

What I want to see/finish: X-Men: Apocalypse, Daredevil S2, The 100 S3, Bastille Day, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Agents of Shield S4.2

How was your month?
