Review: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (Movie)

Three years ago, I read a book called Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and while I loved it, I didn’t find it as scary as I hoped it would be. Still, the story and the pictures were great, and so I picked up book two and book three. Then, I heard there was going to be a movie, and one of my favourite directors of all time would direct it, and I was thrilled. The movie was first to be released in September 2016, but suddenly got pushed back to December. Then, later on, it got pulled forward to September again, which I was really happy about. Trailers came, pictures …

Review: Nerve (Movie)

Back in 2013, I read a book called Nerve. While I enjoyed the story and the concept, I didn’t really enjoy the book in general and so I only gave it three stars. A few months ago, I found out Nerve was becoming a movie, starring Dave Franco and Emma Roberts. Around that time, my celeb crush on Dave was starting, so I decided I was going to see this movie when it came out. Nerve tells the story of Venus “Vee” Delmonica, who on a whim decides to participate in a game called Nerve, a sort of ‘truth or dare’ game, minus the truth. Her …

Review: Ghostbusters (2016)

Let me start off by saying that this is the first Ghostbusters movie that I have seen in my life, so I cannot and will not compare it to the older ones. I also know about the shitstorm that this movie has gotten, and to be honest I do not give a damn about that either. (Please keep in mind that this review is my personal opinion). I have to admit, I wasn’t that interested in this movie, until I found out Chris Hemsworth was playing in it. Because I just love him as an actor and yeah just look at him, come on. So …

Review: Now You See Me 2

Three years ago, I went to see Now You See Me in the cinema, and I was blown away. I loved this movie, I loved all the magic tricks and I especially loved the plottwist at the end. So when I heard there was going to be a sequel, I immediately told myself I would be seeing that in the cinema as well. Now You See Me 2 continues the story of The Four Horsemen who now live in hiding after their escape from the FBI at the end of the previous movie. They are desperate to get back onto the stage and perform once again, but as soon …

Review: Alice Through the Looking Glass (AiW #2)

I have always loved the Alice in Wonderland movie made by Disney all those years ago. But I really wanted to know what Alice was like as a grown-up. So when Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland came along in 2010 I was super excited! Even more excited to hear there would be a sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass.  Now I have to admit, I did read the first book, Alice in Wonderland, but didn’t really like it. I DNF-ed Through the Looking Glass because I just couldn’t get through it at all. But these movies were incredible and I personally believe all classics should be …

Review: X-Men Apocalypse (X-Men Prequels #3)

On the 18th of May (my birthday, yay) I went to an X-Men marathon (First Class, Days of Future Past and then Apocalypse). I’d been excited for this new movie for a while now, especially after my friend (who had seen it already) had told me some things about the movie. Apocalypse takes place ten years after the events of Days of Future Past, after Erik dropped a footbal stadium on the lawn of the White House, after Raven became a Mutant hero for saving the President’s life. Charles Xavier’s school for the gifted is running smoothly. There are lots of students, and there are more coming in …

Review: Civil War (Captain America #3)

PSA: This review will contain spoilers. If you want to go into this movie ‘blind’, don’t read it. Last year, Marvel announced that the title for the third Captain America movie was going to be Civil War. Based on the comic book by Mark Millar, which meant that the Avengers would be divided into two groups: Team Captain America and Team Iron Man. At that point, I had no idea what side to choose – and I didn’t want to choose a team based on looks/how much I liked one more than the other, so I picked up the comic book. I believe it was fairly …
