Review: The Circle

I think I first heard about this book around the time the movie was announced. I was quite intrigued by the summary and decided to get myself a copy a while back. But then, I read a couple of pages and couldn’t really get into it. So I put it down again, hoping to pick it up before the movie came out. About a week before its release, I picked up The Circle again and had to force myself past those couple of pages – thinking it would probably all get more interesting later on… It didn’t. This book, this chunk of a book. This …

Review: The One Memory of Flora Banks

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This has not changed my opinion in any way. A while ago, I started hearing a lot of things about a book called The One Memory of Flora Banks, and the title surely stayed in my head for a while. When I saw it available for request, I decided to go ahead and request it. I thought it would be a cool mystery book, and I decided not to read the synopsis before diving into this book. The One Memory of Flora Banks is about Flora, who has been unable to …

Review: Stolen

Warning: This review is full of rants and spoilers. Please proceed with caution. Back when I first got a Goodreads page, I found out about this book and added it to my TBR list. The summary sounded intriguing, and I liked the ‘letter to my captor’ idea. Fast forward to last year, where I finally purchased a copy of the book, after adding and deleting it from my virtual shopping basket every now and then. And to now, where I finally picked up this book to read it. In Stolen Gemma writes a letter to Ty, the man who kidnapper her from the airport in Bangkok. The man …

Review: The Upside of Unrequited

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This has not changed my opinion in any way. In April last year, Becky Albertalli came to my country and I read Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. While I probably didn’t love it as much as basically everyone else did, I enjoyed it very much and was curious for more of Becky’s books. Her new book, The Upside of Unrequited would be about a girl named Molly who has had crushes on twenty-six different guys; but zero boyfriends. When I saw it on Netgalley, I decided to request it because they were …

Review: Isla and the Happily Ever After (AatFK #3)

Last year I read a book called Anna and the French Kiss because I had heard so many great things about it, I had gotten very curious. While the main genre of the book wasn’t really my thing, I enjoyed the book a lot and decided I would pick up the second and third book as well. Book two, Lola and the Boy Next Door, wasn’t as great as Anna, but this third book picked up a bit in my opinion. Isla and the Happily Ever After tells the story of Isla Martin, who has had a crush on Josh ever since she can remember. The only problem was that …

Review: Beauty Queens

I bought this book back in May last year, because I wanted a nice summer-y read for the upcoming summer. I then read a couple of pages, and put the book back on my shelf. I promised myself many times that I would pick up the book and read it, but I never did, until now. And now that I have finished the book, I wonder why the hell I waited this long. Beauty Queens tells the story of fifty Pageant contestants, whose plane crashes in the middle of a deserted island. The survivors must try to survive in this jungle, until help comes. If …

Review: Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda

Last year, this book was released and it almost instantly became one of the most popular books that year. I’d added it to my to-read list, but never really picked it up, not even when I found out I would be meeting the author, Becky Albertalli. This month I finally decided to pick up Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda because I had gotten rather curious after all. Let me start off by saying that, while I did enjoy this book, I still don’t get the hype that much. It’s not an incredibly special book, in my opinion. I mean, sure the main character is gay, but other than …
