Top Ten Tuesday

Nine Dishes In Books I Want to Try

Have you ever read about a dish in a book and thought ‘I want to try that out’? You’re definitely not the only one (there’s a reason someone made a Harry Potter cookbook). Today’s Top Ten is all about yummy foods mentioned in books, and I have to admit it was pretty hard to come up with ten of them. (And yes, I cheated and added something from a movie series). Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme organised by The Broke and the Bookish. Dauntless Cake (Divergent) Catherine’s creations (Heartless) All of Mrs Weasley’s cooking (Harry Potter) Lamb Stew (The Hunger Games) Ambrosia (Percy Jackson) Kvas …

Nine Times I Thought The Movie/Show was Better than the Book

No, no, no let me finish! I agree that most of the time, the book is better than the movie. Often I like them equally because I know they’re two completely different things, but I will probably always prefer the book. If I’m completely honest, there is a small list of movies I thought were better than the book, and today I am going to anger all book lovers around the world and tell you exactly which movies I thought were better than the books they were based on. The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien Yeah, this is mostly due to the …

Review: Sleeping Giants

I don’t remember when I first heard about this book, but I was recently reminded of this book’s existence through someone’s booktube video, where it was compared to Illuminae, a book I loved to bits. Then, I saw part two – Waking Gods – on NetGalley and decided I was going to get that and buy a copy of the first book. Honestly, I wish I hadn’t bothered. Sleeping Giants tells us the story of Rose Franklin, who one day goes for a ride on her bicycle and ends up finding a giant robot hand. Years later she’s the head of a team trying to find …

Trailer: Justice League (2017)

Today, Warner Bros. released a new trailer for their upcoming DC movie Justice League. I personally am looking forward to this movie, though I expect to not love it seeing as apart from Wonder Woman I haven’t seen any other DC movies involving any of these characters. (Just like when I first saw The Avengers). Oh well, we’ll see what my opinion is next month, I guess! Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Cast: Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, …
